201 ceramic investment projects got approved in China in Q3 2020

According to incomplete statistics, a total of 201 ceramic-related investment projects have been approved in China in the third quarter of 2020, including 36 new ceramic production lines; 54 production lines for technical renovation and upgrading; 34 new ceramic processing production lines; 35 new, technical renovation and expansion of ceramic raw material production and processing projects; 8 new ceramic machinery, digital glaze and ink production projects; 9 ceramic enterprises’ coal-to-gas switching projects; as well as 25 other projects related to ceramic plants construction and expansion, and ceramic production line relocation and expansion, etc.

Among the 201 approved projects, Jiangxi got approved 46 projects, ranking the first and accounting for 22.89%; Fujian got approved 27 projects, accounting for 13.43%; Sichuan got approved 22 projects, accounting for 10.95%; Henan, Guangdong, and Guangxi got approved 17 projects respectively; and Hunan got approved 11 projects.

36 new ceramic production lines


In the third quarter of 2020, a total of 36 new ceramic production lines of a number of ceramic enterprises were approved, including Guangdong Dongwei New Materials, Hebei Lingbiao Technology, Fujian Mingsheng Ceramics, Guangxi Monalisa Tiles, Guangxi Oceano Ceramics, Guangxi Xinduo Ceramics, Gaoan Luosifu Ceramics, etc. Among them, there are 10 new production lines of sintered slabs and big slabs, and the others are production lines of wall and floor tiles, foam ceramics, high-end interior wall tiles, ecological floor tiles, water-permeable tiles, and medium-thick tiles.


On August 17, the foundation and foundation pit construction application for the ceramic slab project of Guangdong Dongye New Materials Co., LTD., a subsidiary of Wonderful Group, was approved by the Dongguan Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau. The total investment of the project is about 2 billion yuan, with a total construction area of about 380,000 sqm, and an annual capacity of 14 million sqm of sintered slabs. In 2020, the enterprise plans to invest 180 million yuan in plant construction and equipment installation.

 

On August 26, Hebei Lingbiao Technology’s ultra-thin sintered slab project was approved. The enterprise plans to invest nearly 2 billion yuan to build 4 new production lines with an annual production capacity of 8 million sqm. On October 4, the launching ceremony of the company's first sintered slab production line was held.

 

On September 25, Fujian Mingsheng Ceramics’ wall and floor tile project was approved. The total investment of the project is 12 million yuan, planing to build a new wall and floor tile production line with an annual capacity of 5.4 million sqm, 2 glazed tile production lines with an annual additional capacity of 10.2 million sqm and a production value of 184 million yuan. The construction period is from January, 2020 to January, 2022.

 

On July 31, the construction permit of Guangxi Monalisa Tiles’ high-end building ceramic production project was issued. The total investment of the project is 1.25 billion yuan, and the project will be built from 2019-2022. In 2020, the enterprise plans to invest 250 million yuan to the construction of 3 production lines. 

 

54 production lines for technical innovation and upgrading


In the third quarter of 2020, 54 investment projects of technical innovation and upgrading of production line in the ceramic industry were approved, among which 19 projects are related to sintered slabs, big slabs, medium-thick tiles, accounting for 35.19% of all technical innovation projects. The 19 projects distributed by production regions are: 9 in Sichuan province, 4 in Jiangxi province, 2  in Hubei province, and 1 of each in Shandong, Guangxi, Shanxi and Ningxia province.

 

In addition, other projects involve upgrading of production lines of glazed porcelain tiles, small floor tiles, interior wall tiles, glazed floor tiles, etc.  

 

A number of ceramic enterprises plan to increase investment in environmental protection, such as emission treatment, upgrade of spray dryer, and process of desulphurization and denitrogenation. What’s more, lots of Guangdong ceramic enterprises’ LNG(Liquefied natural gas) station construction projects were also approved in the third quarter of 2020.

 

35 projects related to ceramic raw materials


In terms of upstream ceramic enterprises, a total of 35 new, technical renovation and expansion of ceramic raw material production and processing projects were approved in the third quarter of 2020.


Among them, Fujian and Jiangxi got approved 12 projects respectively; Guangxi got approved 5 projects; and Guangdong, Shandong, Sichuan ,etc. got approved 1 project respectively.

8 new ceramic machinery and glaze production projects


8 new ceramic machinery, digital glaze and ink production projects were also approved.

 

Dowstone, a ceramic enterprise that specializes in producing digital glaze, ink and other materials, plans to build a 5-floor workshop for the production of ceramic ink, which is mainly equipped with storage tanks, packaging machines and other equipment with a total investment of 20 million yuan. The construction period will be from January 1, 2021 to November 1, 2021.

 

34 new ceramic processing production projects


A total of 34 new ceramic processing production projects such as cutting and grinding were approved in the third quarter of 2020.

 

Among them, Henan got approved 8 projects, ranking the first; Fujian, Hebei, and Jiangsu got approved 5 projects respectively; Guangxi got approved 3 projects; and Shandong got approved  2 projects.
