In January 2018, quite a lot of ceramic companies in Gaoan production base issued the notice to increase tile price. Now, only the price of polished tiles are rising. It has been revealed that, the price of polished tiles have risen by 0.2-0.3 yuan/piece. Analysts said that, as the ceramic companies will be levied the new Environmental Protection Tax in 2018, the price of some raw materials and chemical products will continue to surge. Besides, with a dwindling capacity, polished tiles will see a short supply which will certainly cause a rising price.

It was noted that some ceramic companies saw the biggest increase in the price. For example, the price of polished tiles in 600×600(mm) and 800×800(mm) of Ruiyuan Ceramics have increased by 0.5-1 yuan/piece. As for Qinyuanchun Ceramics, its polished tiles in 600×600(mm) and 800×800(mm) have also increased by 0.5 yuan/piece and 1 yuan/piece respectively. An insider said, the sales of polished tiles was expected to break the sales record in January.

Though not a few ceramic companies have increased the price for polished tiles, some ceramic companies were not intending to do the same. The representative of Ruiyang Ceramic Group said, the Group had increased the price for polished tiles in the first half of 2017 due to the high demand. However, it will not increase the price in 2018. It is worth noted that, though some ceramic companies did have issued the notice to increase the price, they could not sell the tiles well. So they were forced to sell the tiles at the previous price.

Take the glazed tiles for instance, in Gaoan production base, most of the ceramic companies have huge stocks. Therefore, the price of glazed tiles are hard to increase. A representative of a ceramic company said, the increasing prices of polished tiles was caused by the limited capacity and huge stocks, and after Chinese Lantern Festival, the demand of polished tiles always outstrip the supply. However, the situation for glazed tiles is different. The annual convention and the promotions held by the ceramic companies have already lowered the price of glazed tiles. Besides, most of the ceramic companies have huge stocks. In conclusion, the customers will not place order for the glazed tiles if its prices increase.
