Foshan Prohibits New Ceramic Plants

Recently, the Foshan government office issued a notice about the Measures on Earnest Implementation of Intensive Measures and Division Work on Air Pollution Prevention and Control, which covers 20 intensive measures on Air pollution prevention and control and 100 specific tasks.

The Measures points out that, there is a need to upgrade the industrial structure and energy structure of Foshan. In terms of environmental protection access, Foshan lifts a complete prohibition on new or extended coal-burning and fuel-burning thermal power units and companies-owned power plants and new ceramic plants(projects of new special ceramic excluded). Meanwhile, Foshan has strict rules on preventing the construction projects of domestic glass. With the aim of upgrading the energy structure, Foshan will increase the no-burn zone of high-pollution fuels by 50%. The existing ceramic plants and glass plants are required to use the natural gas as fuels and make a tight control over the adoption of pet coke. Besides, burning coal in urban built-up area is outlawed
